Blogs-A Great Way to Connect

Blogs are another way to connect with your customer. However, they are harder to maintain because more regular input is required. Think of a blog as a diary or journal type of entry. More input and shorter articles
are better so save the longer messages for newsletters and your book. For simplicity and efficiency, consider having multiple media social networks. For example use newsletters, blogs and books to feed similar content and material.

You can get your own blog by setting up an account with www.blogspot.com, www.wordpress.com or any other provider that fits your needs. I run two blogs using wordpress. com and blogspot.com. I like the features of wordpress.com because you can make it look like a website and add as many pages as I need. I like BlogSpot because I can customize the blog to look more like my current website. Both are very popular with great looking pages.

When you start your blog, be sure to include as much information about your business as you can in your profile. Fill out your profile information completely and use good keywords to direct traffic to your
blog. Upload pictures of you and your products. If you have a book published, make sure you have a link to Amazon.com and your website where the books can be purchased. Don’t forget to offer free information
and have a sign up for your newsletter.

Use your blog to direct visitors to your website so they can join your newsletter, find your products and learn more about you and your business. Use keywords in your posts so search engines can find them.
For example, if your niche is janitorial services and you sell environmentally safe cleaning detergent, you might provide a link from the key word detergent to your website product. In other words, if your post is about the best detergent to use to clean up grease, link the word “detergent” to your website. You can an example of how I did it at:

If you don’t have enough material to start your own blog, or you are not committed to a blog, you can comment on other related blogs. When you post comments on other blogs, you can link your website to
your comment. When others read your comments, they can instantly find your website. Take an interest in the topic you comment on. People can tell if you are marketing, so make your comments genuine.

If you've developed a blog, newsletter or social media following, then you have your customer database. Your marketing efforts flow as you provide advice and answers to those following your posts, comments and articles. Many authors teach, speak, volunteer or are otherwise active in their professions. It's hard to remain o...

Using a book to promote your business and vice versa.

A book is a great way to start a business, develop a business or market a business. Many people struggle with what to focus on as a book topic or a business.  They wonder what they should write about, what business they should focus on, how to market the book or the business, where to start, and how to grow. Perhaps this is your journey. If so welcome to the club. One of the most difficult tasks is settling on a topic, niche or business idea. It's important to understand where your expertise lies and how to reach others with your solution. I've always been an advocate of teaching and writing and learned there lies the core of my potential business competency. I wrote my first book on the subject of teaching others how to prepare for a certification. Whether you already have a business, want to learn how to start a business, or have a book, it's important to learn how to market your capability. I always say that one of the best ways to start a newsletter appropriate for your...
